• Name
  • Expansion Valve

One of four major components that make up the evaporator/blower, the expansion valve is attached to the inlet [HP] of the evaporator coil, and controls the flow of refrigerant into the evaporator. For the valve to operate correctly, a chain of events must take place allowing refrigerant to move through the small orifice within, and onto the evaporator coil. This Youtube video explains the process in great detail.

  • Internal Components of the Evaporator Blower

  • Found on the Inlet of the Evaporator

Over time, the build-up of debris can block the pathway of refrigerant through the small orifice, which in turn prevents the evaporator from being effective in cooling the air. Rather than replacing the evaporator/blower unit, a cheaper solution would be to inspect all of the inner working components, making the necessary changes where required. Applicable for all models.
