Located in the centre of the bulkhead lies a rather large hole. Known as a 'roto-dip' aperture, these were found on all cars up until the early nineties as a way to roll [on a spit] the body at the factory for rust prevention treatment. Made from ABS resin, the bulkhead blanking plate fits snuggly into the aperture between the engine bay and the cars interior to reduce noise, heat and odour from the engine.
